The "Ruta de la Tapa" or tapas' route taking place every Friday in the municipality of La Oliva. It's an initiative by the Commerce Council of the Townhall of La Oliva to dynamise the area and promote its gastronomy.
Basically, for €2,50 you get a tapa, cold or hot, and a drink: beer, wine, water or soft drink. Not bad, eh? Then, if you wish, you get it stamped on your voting card. To enter the prize draw you must fill at least 40% of the card, that means you should try 20 different tapas. The amount of required tastings has been reduced this year given the numerous amount of establishments taking part.
At the end of it, a professional jury's opinion and your votes will be tallied to nominate the winner of the Cold and Hot Tapa of the year.
We just have found out about this event but it has already been going on since the beginning of April. Don't worry, it's not to late to join in as it doesn't finish until the 5th of July, which leaves you with the challenge of eating 2 tapas every Friday Night for the next 10 weeks in a total of 10 different places.
